For anyone who still thinks global warming is not real, here are 2 recent articles about the science behind climate change:

Here I will be including my Current Events homework, because I wrote about the 2nd link in my own words.

Scientists are now very certain that climate change made Hurricane Sandy much worse than it would have been. This doesn’t mean that there wouldn’t have been a Sandy if there wasn’t climate change. This means that if there had been no global warming, the sea wouldn’t have risen 13.2 feet- at least 1 foot of that was due to climate change- , and the storm probably wouldn’t have hit us at all.
Temperatures over Greenland were much warmer than usual, which was the reason that the storm actually hit our area. A high-pressure system over Greenland “blocked” the North Atlantic, and pushed the hurricane to the East Coast. The Jet Stream, a stream of wind in the North Atlantic, would typically have pushed the hurricane toward the Atlantic Ocean. If there hadn’t been any climate change, the storm would never have hit us and maybe would have dissipated in the ocean.
The rising sea levels did not help to make the storm any better. As I said earlier, at least 1 foot of the flooding was due to climate change. At least. Plus, the sea surface temperatures off the East Coast. By rising to above-average water vapor, it made more rain, and strengthened the storm.
People should now start understanding that this is a reality. If we don’t do something about climate change, these storms may get worse and worse and worse till they flood coastlines-including NYC- and create chaos and destruction. We cannot let this happen to ourselves. It’s silly to think that we are destroying ourselves, but it’s true. It’s as though the human race is committing a slow suicide. I think we can still do something about this, but there isn’t much time.
