The Weather is Weird

Really really weird. Yesterday was 80 degrees and now it's 50 degrees. What does this mean?

Rain????

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2 minutes ago I heard thunder and then all I heard were "bullets". Well, not really bullets, but rain, and it was hitting with the force of a bullet. It was SCARY! It was thundering and everything outside and we rushed to close the windows. It's still raining but not as much. That was the weirdest rain I have ever experienced in my 12+ year life. Wow!

Boston and Back

I just came back from Boston, MA last night at around 7:30. My class and I took a 2 night trip there. It was so much fun! The day we went there, we had to wake up at 5:00 (A.M!) to take the AMTRAK. From there we ate lunch at Prudential Center Food Court- everyone except for me, because I ate all my lunch on the train :). Then we walked to the hostel which was a very nice hostel, surprisingly. We went to the Mapparium, which is a gigantic map that fits into a whole room. It was made in the 1920's. The map has not been edited so all the countries that were in the 1920's are still there.

We also went to the Boston Public Garden. There were many ducks and swans, which I took pictures of,  and we had a relay race. We skipped, ran, and then bear-walked. My team won! Go Team A (Team Awesome)! (FYI, Boston Public Garden is where the books Make Way For Ducklings and Charles of the Wild were staged.)

We ate at California Pizza Kitchen and then my room and I all went to sleep around 11:30. :)

The next day we went to the Museum of Science. It is a- surprise!- museum of scientific stuff. There was one section full of animals that had been stuffed. There was a button you press and the smell of the animal came out. The deer smelled DISGUSTING! What was sad was that most of these animals had been killed by humans and brought to the museum. This was saddening and once I heard it I left the room.
There was another memorable exhibit that showed you physics and how to be eco-friendly. There was a "park" and a "house" full of experiments and things that showed you how much you usually pollute, etc.
It started raining and we ate lunch at Panera Bread. I got a tomato and mozzarella sandwich and a gigantic brownie. It was delicious!
Afterwards, we went to the Harvard Science Museum. It was amazing and it had an amazing gift shop too (more about that in a minute). Here are some pictures:

That's my friend Michelle next to a giant turtle shell!
That's Hannah and Michelle in front of a gigantic skeleton. Yikes!

Believe it or not, this is made out of glass. There are many glass flowers in the museum, but it is a lost art. People don't make these things anymore, so they are very valuable.

Then we went to the gift shop. There was a 20% off discount because of Mother's Day! I got a penguin stuffed animal named Kiwi Puffin Penguin, a piece of raw amethyst (uncut amethyst looks so much better than cut amethyst), and a turtle necklace for my mom which I will give her tomorrow.

This is another of my classmates, Sarah. The toucan next to her is from the gift shop and his name is Senor Jose. Michelle got Senor Jorge the toucan and another friend got Senor Tou-kan the toucan.

That night, some drama happened involving someone stealing someone's shoes as a prank, which resulted in us going out to dinner late. We went to a pizza and pasta place. I got spinach ravioli and 2 cups of Sprite. We went to a park and it started pouring rain, so we were all playing Steal the Umbrella while covered in mud and soaking wet. It was quite fun. We go to the hostel around 10:30.
The next morning, the last day, we went to the Institute of Contemporary Art. Pictures:
This was a really beautiful cathedral we saw on our way to the museum. There was a huge fountain and a man-made lake in front of it.
They're not real! (phew!)

We got home at around 7:30, and I was so tired I almost immediately went to sleep. It was a great trip!
I was so surprised at how eco-friendly and clean Boston was. All the buses were eco-friendly and there were recycling bins everywhere. There was not much garbage on the floor and the subways were very clean. I am very glad I went to Boston. I want to go again!
